A preschool in Hyderabad fills its 2027-28 seats by having its own page that names the locality, the age group and the lead teacher, a claimed Google profile with reviews from this year's parents, and a visit booking that works from a phone in one tap, all live before the October to November window when parents start looking. Directories will not do that job for you. On 6 October 2026 we counted 28 first page results across three Hyderabad preschool searches, and 18 were directory or aggregator pages. Exactly 1 was an independent preschool's own website.
This is the playbook for an owner who runs one or two centres, teaches or supervises most of the day, and watches a chain with a bigger sign open two streets away every year. It is written for the operator, with a sequence, a cost range and a timeline, and it says who should ignore it at the end.
Two words we use and what they mean. Search engine optimisation, SEO for short, is making your page show up on Google when a parent types preschool near me without paying per click. AI search optimisation, AIO on this site, is being the preschool ChatGPT or Gemini names when a parent asks which one to visit. Both start with the same page.
How is marketing a preschool different from marketing a school?
Three ways, and each one changes the plan.
The radius is smaller. A CBSE school draws from across a zone because it runs buses; a preschool draws from the streets a parent can walk or drive in ten minutes with a toddler. Your market is Sainikpuri or Kompally or Madhapur, not Hyderabad, so a page for the city is a page for nobody.
The decision is faster and more emotional. A school admission involves a form, a document list and an interaction over months. A preschool decision is often made in one visit, by one parent, on how the rooms smelled and whether the teacher knelt down to speak to the child. Everything online exists to get that visit booked, and nothing online replaces it.
The competition is branded. Kiddenz, a preschool directory, listed 412 preschools and daycares in Hyderabad in 2026, and its brand pages show Klay with 28 centres across 20 areas of the city and Kidzee with 20 centres across 16. A parent typing a locality name sees chain pages built for that locality by a head office, so an independent centre is competing with a marketing department, not with the centre next door.
One rule change helps you. Admission portals report the Ministry of Education's direction that Class 1 admission for 2027-28 requires a child to be six years old on 1 April 2027, which pushes three full years of preschool, nursery, LKG and UKG, in front of Class 1. A parent of a two year old is now planning a three year stay, and a page that explains that path plainly answers a question most chain pages skip.
What did we find reading 28 search results on 6 October 2026?
We ran three searches a parent would run and read every first page result as it came: preschool admissions 2027-28 Kompally Hyderabad, play school near Sainikpuri Secunderabad admissions, and best preschool in Madhapur Gachibowli Hyderabad with the word fees added.
Kompally returned ten results. Six were directories or admission portals, Uniapply twice, ProEves, Edustoke, Yellowslate and The School Admission. Four belonged to a preschool business, and three of those four were locality pages built by a chain head office, Kangaroo Kids, EuroKids and FirstCry Intellitots. One, TNR Excellencia Academy, was an independent Kompally preschool on its own domain. It was the only independent preschool website in the whole read.
Sainikpuri returned nine. Three were Sulekha and SchoolMyKids directory pages. One was the EuroKids Sainikpuri chain page and one was the Facebook page of Delhi Public Play School, Sainikpuri. The other four were Wikipedia, and three of those were Sainik Schools in Ambikapur and Bhubaneswar, because the engine read Sainikpuri as Sainik. The same name collision our 1 October Sainikpuri read found for agencies applies to preschools too: the word Sainikpuri on its own sends a parent to military academies in other states.
Madhapur and Gachibowli returned nine, and nine were directories or listicles: Sulekha twice, Kiddenz three times, Edustoke, Justdial, HelloParent and an Invest4Edu list. Not one preschool owned page, chain or independent, for the two localities with the highest preschool fees in the city. Kiddenz's own listing puts Madhapur annual fees between 22,000 and 2,00,000 rupees, with Klay centres at the top of that range, so the parents with the most to spend are being handed entirely to aggregators.
The original number. Of 28 first page results for three Hyderabad preschool searches on 6 October 2026, 18 were directory, portal or listicle pages, 4 were reference pages, 4 were chain locality pages, 1 was a preschool's Facebook page and 1 was an independent preschool's own website. Our data ledger had no unused entry that fits a preschool playbook, so this is a first party reading done the same way as the ledger's earlier locality reads, logged as entry 57.
The practical reading is simple. In every locality we checked, a parent meets a wall of directories and, at best, one chain page. An independent preschool with a real page of its own is competing with almost nobody of its own kind.
What is the sequence to follow, from October to March?
Seven steps, in order, timed to the Hyderabad admissions calendar. Admission guides for 2027-28 put October and November as the window when leading schools open registration, with decisions running through to March, and preschool parents move on the same clock because they are choosing the feeder for the school they want.
October, week one: claim and complete the Google Business Profile. Category preschool, not school. Hours that match the gate. Twenty photographs taken on a phone in daylight: the entrance, each room, the washroom, the play area, the kitchen if you have one, and the lead teacher by name with her consent. A parent choosing for a two year old looks at the washroom photograph longer than at your logo.
October, week two: one page of your own, on your own domain, for your locality and your age groups. The title names the locality and the programme, for example Playgroup, Nursery and LKG in Kompally, not Best Preschool in Hyderabad. The page carries the daily routine by the hour, the teacher to child ratio as a number, the fee range or a fee sheet on request, the path from playgroup to UKG and into which schools your last two batches went. That last line is the one no directory can write for you. If you are in Sainikpuri, Alwal, Malkajgiri or Kapra, the locality name on the page also keeps you out of the Sainik School collision.
October, week three: the visit booking. One button on the page and one on the profile, both opening WhatsApp or a short form with three fields, child's age, preferred visit day, phone. Reply within the hour during the day, because a parent books three visits at once and the first centre to answer sets the standard for the other two.
October, week four: the review routine. Ask one current parent a week, in person, at a happy moment, and send the link the same afternoon. Reply to every review by name. By January you will have twelve to fifteen reviews newer than anything the chain centre nearest you has, and parents read the most recent five.
November: one short film, under ninety seconds, shot on a phone, of a normal morning. Arrival, circle time, snack, outdoor play, pick up. No music, no script, the teacher's own voice. It goes on the page, the profile and your Instagram, and it does more than any paid post because it answers the question every parent is silently asking, which is what actually happens here between nine and twelve.
December and January: Meta ads inside a three kilometre radius, with the visit booking as the only goal, running only when the page, the profile and the film are already live. The ad's job is the visit, not the enrolment. Track cost per visit booked and switch off anything that produces enquiries without visits.
February and March: open mornings on the page and the profile with real dates, a waiting list form once a programme is full, and a thank you message to every parent who visited and chose elsewhere, because the sibling arrives in two years. For how all of this is kept honest week to week rather than reviewed once a year, the Marketing Operating System is the rhythm we run for our own clients.
What does this cost, and how long before it works?
The profile, the page content, the review routine and the film cost time, not money, and should take an owner or a centre head about three hours a week through October and November. A website of five to eight pages, one per locality or programme, is quoted in the Hyderabad freelancer and small studio market at roughly 40,000 to 1,50,000 rupees one time. That is the market range we observe, not a Vridhii rate; our own pricing page explains how we scope rather than quoting a flat number. For Meta ads, a single centre should plan an ad budget of its own and judge it by cost per visit booked, which in a three kilometre radius is usually a small daily amount rather than a campaign.
On timing, profile and review work moves within four to eight weeks, so October work shows in December. The locality page needs a quarter or more before search engines and AI answers use it, which is why it cannot wait until January. Ads are the only step that can produce a booked visit inside a fortnight, and they stop the day the budget stops.
Who should ignore this? A centre that is full with a waiting list from word of mouth, a franchise centre whose head office controls the page and the profile, and a preschool that cannot answer a WhatsApp within the hour on a weekday. Everything here is for the independent centre that wants its 2027-28 enrolment to come from its own page and its own parents rather than from a directory that lists its competitor one row above. Our education marketing page covers how we do this for schools and preschools, and the school admissions playbook covers the bigger version of the same calendar.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a website if my preschool is listed on Kiddenz, Sulekha and Justdial?
Yes, because those listings are where a parent compares you and your own page is where they decide. On 6 October 2026, 18 of 28 first page results for Hyderabad preschool searches were directories, and only 1 was an independent preschool's own website. A listing cannot show the morning routine, the teacher's face or the fee sheet the way your own page can, and a directory will always place a competitor beside you.
When should a Hyderabad preschool start marketing for the 2027-28 year?
Now. Leading Hyderabad schools open registration in October and November, and preschool parents shop in the same window because they are choosing the school the preschool feeds into. A page, a claimed profile and a review routine started in October give you January and February, when most decisions are made, with the work already done.
Should a preschool run Meta ads for admissions?
Only after the page and the profile exist, and only inside a three kilometre radius with a visit booking as the goal. A preschool parent will not enrol from an ad; they will book a visit from one. Judge the campaign by cost per visit booked, never by reach or leads.
How many Google reviews does a preschool need?
More than the chain centre nearest you, and newer. Parents read the most recent five, so one review a week from a current parent beats fifty from two years ago. Ask at the moments parents are happiest: the first week settled, the annual day, the graduation.
