A physiotherapy clinic in north Hyderabad wins new patients by having its own page that names the locality, the condition and the clinician, a claimed and reviewed Google profile, and a booking route that works from a phone in one tap. Directories do not do that job for you. On 29 September 2026 we counted 30 first page results across three north Hyderabad physiotherapy searches, and 22 were directory or aggregator pages. Only 7 belonged to a clinic or a physiotherapy business.

This is the playbook for an owner or a lead physiotherapist who treats patients all day, has a steady trickle of referrals, and wants a second source of patients that does not depend on one orthopaedic surgeon staying friendly.

How is marketing a physiotherapy clinic different from marketing a general clinic?

A physiotherapy patient does not book a visit. A physiotherapy patient books a course. The first session is an assessment, and the value of the patient is the six, ten or fifteen sessions that follow, so a booked first appointment matters far more than a phone call or a page view. That changes what you measure, what you advertise and what you put on the page.

The demand underneath is large and steady. The Global Burden of Disease study published in The Lancet Rheumatology in June 2023 estimated that 619 million people worldwide lived with low back pain in 2020, and projected 843 million by 2050. Back pain, knee pain, neck pain and frozen shoulder are also the conditions a north Hyderabad clinic sees most, and they are the phrases patients type. If you want the wider clinic picture first, our healthcare marketing playbook for Hyderabad covers the general case, and our note on dental clinics covers the closest neighbour.

What did we find reading 30 search results across north Hyderabad?

On 29 September 2026 we ran three searches a patient might type: physiotherapy clinic Sainikpuri, physiotherapist Kompally with home visit, and physiotherapy clinic ECIL and A S Rao Nagar. We counted every first page result and sorted each into directory or aggregator, business owned, or reference.

The Sainikpuri search returned 10 results and all 10 were directories or aggregators: Sulekha twice, Justdial three times, Practo three times, Skedoc, and one home visit platform. Not one clinic owned page appeared for the neighbourhood where Vridhii itself sits. The Kompally search was the healthiest, with 5 business owned results, including two locality pages on Reliva, Legend Physiotherapy, Kruthicare and Mobile Physiotherapy Clinic. The ECIL and A S Rao Nagar search returned 7 directories, 1 Wikipedia page and 2 business owned results, and both of those were the same clinic, SNAG Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy, served from two separate netlify.app addresses rather than one domain of its own.

Two of the pages that did rank are worth studying. The Legend Physiotherapy Kompally page gives a street level address on Medchal Road, in Petbasheerabad and NCL Enclave South, lists the conditions it treats, and offers booking through WhatsApp, a form and an online scheduler. It also states a 4.9 out of 5 patient rating in text, but shows no prices or session packages. The SNAG page names its clinician, Dr Naresh Gopi, with his professional credentials and sports fellowship, and locates the clinic above the Apollo Pharmacy in Sainathapuram, Officers Colony, a detail only someone who has walked that lane would use. Its weakness is technical: the page names snagphysiorehab.in as its home, yet the pages a searcher actually reaches sit on free subdomains.

The opening is plain. In Sainikpuri there was nobody to beat except directories.

What is the sequence to follow, week by week?

Seven steps, in this order, because each one feeds the next.

Week one, the Google Business Profile. Claim it, set the primary category to physiotherapist, add each service the way a patient would say it, such as sciatica treatment or post surgery rehabilitation, and upload real photographs of the entrance, the treatment room and the signage. Use the landmark a patient will actually look for, whether that is a pharmacy, a school or a bus stop. Put the working hours on the profile exactly as they run, including Sundays and festival days.

Weeks one and two, name the clinician. A page that says a qualified physiotherapist treats you is empty. A page that names the practitioner, the credentials, the fellowship and the years in practice is a fact an engine can repeat and a nervous patient can check.

Weeks two to four, one page per condition and locality you genuinely serve. A frozen shoulder page for patients around Sainikpuri and ECIL is a page. The same page copied with Kompally swapped in is a doorway, and search engines discount it. Write each page once, with the assessment process, the usual number of sessions and what a first visit involves. Do not publish a page for a locality you do not serve.

Weeks two to four as well, one booking route that never fails. A WhatsApp link and a short form, with the clinic hours stated beside them. Patients in pain do not want to phone in the morning and wait. This matters because, as we reported on 23 September 2026, a call from a Google Business Profile does not show up in website analytics at all. Read that account in The Enquiry Our Own Analytics Could Not See, then set up call tracking on the profile so the clinic knows which patients came from Google.

Weeks four to eight, reviews from discharged patients. Ask at the final session, when the patient is walking properly again and is at their most grateful, and send the review link on WhatsApp within the hour. Reviews are the tie breaker between two clinics on the same lane.

Weeks four to ten, referral relationships. Two or three orthopaedic surgeons, one or two general practitioners and a gym or two in your belt account for most physiotherapy referrals. A one page summary of what you treat and how you report back does more than any advertisement. Neither clinic page we read published one.

From month three, paid search on the narrow, high intent phrases only, such as frozen shoulder treatment near me or sciatica physiotherapy in your locality, sending the click to the matching page, not the homepage. Track cost per booked first session, not clicks.

What does this cost, and how long before it works?

The profile, the clinician page and the review routine cost time, not money, and should take a lead physiotherapist about three hours a week for the first month. A website of seven to ten pages, with a condition page per treatment you want to grow, is quoted in the Hyderabad freelancer and small studio market at roughly 60,000 to 2,00,000 rupees one time. That is the market range we observe, not a Vridhii rate. For paid search, a single clinic should plan an ad budget of its own, and a range of 15,000 to 30,000 rupees a month is a sensible starting point for one locality. Treat that as our planning assumption, not a benchmark, and adjust it after eight weeks of booking data.

On timing, profile and review work usually moves within four to eight weeks. Condition and locality pages need a quarter or more before search engines and AI answers use them. Paid search is the only step that can produce a booked patient inside a fortnight, and it stops the day the budget stops.

Who should ignore this? A clinic that is fully booked on referrals from one hospital and has no wish to grow beyond it. Everything here is for the practice that wants a second, steadier stream of patients.

Key takeaway. For a physiotherapy clinic in north Hyderabad, directories hold most of the first page, and in Sainikpuri they hold all of it. On 29 September 2026, 22 of the 30 results we counted were directory pages. Build a named clinician page, a complete Google profile and a single booking route, then measure booked first sessions rather than clicks.

This is one chapter of a larger framework. The Marketing Operating System is how we keep this work accountable week by week rather than in a quarterly report nobody opens. Our approach for practitioners is set out on the marketing for doctors and clinics page, and how we scope the work is on the pricing page. If you would rather have a team handle this, Vridhii Digital builds growth systems for founders who care about results. Frequently asked questions

Do I need a website if my Practo and Justdial listings already get calls?

Yes, because those listings belong to the platform, not to you. In our 29 September 2026 read, directories held 22 of 30 first page results, so your listing sits beside dozens of competitors. A page of your own is the only place you control the wording.

How many Google reviews does a physiotherapy clinic need?

There is no fixed number that wins. What matters is that reviews keep arriving and that you reply to each one. A clinic with forty recent reviews usually beats a clinic with a hundred old ones, so ask at every discharge.

Should I run ads for back pain and knee pain?

Only on narrow phrases tied to a specific page, such as frozen shoulder or sciatica in your locality. Broad terms such as back pain are expensive and attract people who want exercises, not appointments. Judge every campaign by cost per booked first session.

Can I write pages for Kompally and Alwal when my clinic is in ECIL?

Only if patients truly travel to you from there, and only if you write each page separately. A copied page with a new locality name is a doorway page, and it weakens the pages that are real.
