Call the work what a customer would type, not what the industry calls it. In the 90 days to 30 September 2026, Google Trends India put the search term AI SEO at 2 on its 0 to 100 scale against 31 for SEO. GEO averaged 21, which looks healthy until you open its rising related queries: Geography class 10 notes, Harpal Geo TV and a serial called Tapish. The volume is homework, not marketing. If your service page leads with an acronym, it is leading with a word your buyer has never searched.
What did Google Trends India actually show?
Three things, all read on 30 September 2026 and all relative index values rather than search counts. First, AI SEO touched 29 on a single day, 6 August, and was back to 1 within 48 hours. There was no second spike. Second, GEO's number belongs to geography: every rising query under it was a school subject or a television channel. Third, the two phrases a buyer would use to price this work, digital marketing agency cost and social media marketing packages, returned interest so low across twelve months that Trends would not show related queries for either. Indians are not googling what an agency costs, and they are not googling the acronyms either.
That last point matters because the acronyms are where the industry has been pouring its effort. ZeroAdo owns the query best GEO agencies in India with a listicle, and it owns AI SEO agencies in India with another. FactoryJet publishes a priced comparison under AI SEO. These pages compete with each other for a vocabulary that, in this country, almost nobody outside the trade has adopted.
What happens when you search GEO agency Hyderabad today?
You get geologists. On 2 October 2026 the first page for that query returned nine results, and three of them had nothing to do with marketing: the National Geophysical Research Institute, the Indian Institute of Surveying and Mapping, and a Sulekha listing for Associated Geo Services in Saidabad. The six marketing results were Groview, GetCito, Vasishtha Digital, AdRankify, Lemniscate Growth and a geo targeting page from Ministry of Marketing, which is a different service altogether. Our own GEO agency Hyderabad page, published on 30 August, has not surfaced on this query in five tracked checks. That is partly our page and partly the word: the engine cannot tell whether a searcher wants a survey or a strategy, so it hedges and serves both.
Compare that with a query written in customer words. The search how to get my business cited by ChatGPT returns nine guides and no geologists, because every word in it means one thing. None of them are ours either, yet, but the field is at least the right field.
So what should a Hyderabad business call this work on its own site?
Lead with the outcome, in engine names. The words with demand are ChatGPT, Google, Gemini and the service you sell. A heading like "Why does ChatGPT not mention my clinic?" is a question a Kompally dentist has actually typed. "Answer engine optimisation for healthcare" is a heading that only an agency would type. Put the first one on the page and keep the second for the meta tag, where the trade reader will find it.
Say the acronym once, in brackets, and define it in the same sentence. Our answer engine page opens by saying the work is getting an AI to name your brand when someone asks it a question, and only then uses the three letters. The international page we published this week does not use the acronym in a heading at all. Both pages still carry the term in their title tags and schema, so a reader who does know it loses nothing.
Write the FAQ in the customer's words, not yours. Our FAQ post covers the length and shape an engine will quote. The word choice is the other half: a question phrased with the acronym is a question nobody asks, so it earns no match. Read your enquiry emails from the last quarter and lift the phrasing from there.
Do not rename the service page every time the industry invents a label. AEO, GEO, LLM seeding, AI SEO and AIO describe the same work. The top rising query under AI marketing in India this quarter was a breakout from someone asking why the industry cannot pick a name. Pick the plain description, keep it, and let the acronyms sit underneath it.
A quick test for any page: read the heading aloud to a client who has never hired an agency. If you have to explain the heading before you can explain the service, the heading is for the trade, not the customer, and the engine will treat it the same way.
What stays the same whatever you call it?
Everything the engine reads. The page still has to answer in its first hundred words, carry the schema that matters, agree with every directory that lists you, and say something specific enough to quote. Our check for whether an engine cites you works the same whether your page says GEO or says nothing of the kind. The vocabulary decides whether a buyer finds the page. The method decides whether an engine repeats it.
Key takeaway: In Google Trends India for the 90 days to 30 September 2026, AI SEO scored 2 against 31 for SEO and GEO's volume was geography homework. On 2 October a search for GEO agency Hyderabad returned three geoscience results in nine. Name the work in the words a customer types, keep the acronym once in brackets, and leave the method unchanged.
This is one chapter of the Marketing Operating System we run for every client: the part where the page is written for the person searching rather than for the people selling. Our SEO and AI search service does the work under whichever name you prefer. If you would rather have a team handle this, Vridhii Digital builds growth systems for founders who care about results, from Sainikpuri in Hyderabad. Frequently asked questions
Should we remove the words GEO and AEO from our service page?
Keep them, but move them. Lead with the outcome in the words a customer types, such as getting your business named by ChatGPT, and put the acronym once in brackets for the trade reader who already knows it. Deleting it costs you the few buyers who do search the term; leading with it costs you everyone else.
Which words do customers actually use in India?
The engine names. In the 90 days to 30 September 2026, SEO held an index of 31 in Google Trends India, AI SEO sat at 2, and GEO's rising queries were geography lessons. People search ChatGPT, Google and the service they want, not the category label the industry has given the work.
Does this apply outside India too?
Less so. The UK and Dubai agency fields already sell under AI SEO, AEO and GEO, and buyers there have been reading about it for a year longer. In India the vocabulary has not arrived yet, which is a reason to explain the work plainly here and a reason not to copy a London agency's service page word for word.
How will we know when the vocabulary catches up?
When the Trends line for AI SEO stops sitting near zero and the related queries under GEO stop being Geography class 10 notes. We re-read the India numbers monthly and publish them in our tracker, so the change will be visible before most agencies rename their pages.
